It did cross my mind as to why The Crofter was wearing a hutch the other day as I sauntered down there in the warm sun. It's not the usual garb of the cutting edge crofter round these parts let me tell you. Despite that, the wooden kilt did suit him rather well if only being a bit restrictive.

It was only later that The Crofter dis-robed from his interesting -kilt and brought out the piggies - the ones that will breed if he lets them. They were very happy to have the fresh air and the grass to, to .. whatever they do to it.

Not sure how happy they would be today as it's raining - for the first time in ages this year but at least it's still warm.

 Mum Crofter sorting eggs

 The Crofter/tooth-maker sorting teeth

Washing; sorted.

Yes, it's been/is hot. The piggies are even lazier than usual - as if that were possible. Washing has been drying in an hour and the two legged feathery beasties are getting rumpatious. But they are still laying - which is just as well since we get our eggs from The Crofter. Fresh as you can get them really. Sometimes we come away with fresh veg too - which is always wonderful.

The pigs have not been producing piglets of late which means The Crofter has bacon in mind. Something I can't even bear to think about. Neither can the piggies I should imagine but they do eat a lot and little else so perhaps they have had their day.

Meanwhile Mr Crofter has been playing in the tooth factory rather frequently of late. As a result, the raw toofs stocks are running a tad lo. Maybe it's time to re-stock.

Homeless Turks

I dreamt a lot last night. So much so it woke me up at 3 am and I didn't want to go back into sleep and that dream. You see I dreamt i was homeless. No home, no loving partner and no money. A bit of a nightmare really and something I hope I'll never experience.

Down at t'croft, the turks are experiencing a little of my dream and I felt for them. Their sty has been dismantled [before it fell down] and a new shed was being built. Bits of wood and wrinkled iron [the new sort] lay thereabouts, hammering filtered up the village as The Crofter persuaded another nail into the wood.

Wood on wrinkled iron

Up, up and away

Seems like the new shed is much bigger than the last - and it's not for the poor turks either. Their new home will be built later. Apparently, Mr Crofter Sir will be using hay rather than silage this next year for the coows as it keeps better - if indoors. Hence the big shed!

Family building Co.

I think Mr Crofter likes building things. There has been three incarnations of chicken houses in the last four years for example. The coow sheds change shape most years and sometimes location too. And don't get me started about the pig hutches either!

Apologies for the lack of recent updates. No, it's not all over here yet, I've just been away and busy. Will try and get going again.

The Crofters are fine - saw them this morning and the usual chaos is happening :-)
